The Franklin Mint has released a limited edition
Corvette Z06 and once again they have put a tremendous amount of
time and detail into the interior of the car. The seats are real
leather and the gauges are readable on the 1:24 scale model. The
clutch, brake and accelerator are all in proportion and the steering
wheel fits in well also. One thing that I noticed was that when I
turned the wheel the wheels do not move smoothly And actually
hesitated giving a mechanical feel to the steering. The seat belts
were a little long and stayed tangled up behind the seat which can
be viewed when the hatch is open

From
this vantage point the car delivers a lot of appeal with its looks
and styling. The body is tight and compact and shows the detail of
the new body design. It almost takes on the look of a Porsche from
this angle
which I am sure was not the intent of the designers. The emblems are
all authentic and properly placed and readable even at this scale.
The wheels on this model appear smaller and hug the wheel wells a
little too much.

The front headlights in this shot are clearly
visible and give the cara nice look with the separate lights on each
side. The color of this car is very distinctive and has raised some
debate among my friends as to why such a drastic change from colors
of the past. The metallic flake is excellent although I am not sold
on the burnt orange with a tint of burgundy. I know they wanted a
unique look and they certainly achieved it but for a Vette man I am
not sold on it.

For
those of you out there that are into motors Franklin Mint has done
another superb job. The scale and detail on the engine is excellent.
The alternator is placed in its exact location and the notches on
the housing are clearly visible. The hood latches are sturdy and
firm and the Corvette emblem is visible on the hood cushion as well.
A nice detail for those that like authenticity

The detail
on the underside of the Z06 is also very well done. They
designers even include the signature blue Delco oil filter which was
a nice touch. The one thing That detracts from the underside is the
enormous skid plates. Franklin Mint put their stamp on the front
panels and the back need something more. The rear wheels on this
model wobbled back and forth and gave the car a loose feeling while
moving. The hinges for the hatch were loose as well and to keep the
hatch up took a little effort. Overall the Franklin mint did a
decent job with this car and because it is a limited edition,
collectors
will pay the $100+ but were it a straight mass production car it
would be over priced.
We would like to thank
Franklin Mint for this car to review
